Bilingual Law Clerk
Join our Team: Exciting Opportunity for a Bilingual Law Clerk in Ottawa or Timmins
Burn Tucker Lachaîne PC is hiring a mid-level to senior bilingual law clerk to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. The position is hybrid, with significant portions of the work being completed remotely. The candidate must be based in the City of Ottawa or the City of Timmins, or within commuting distance to one or the other.
We are a boutique firm specializing in plaintiff personal injury and disability claims. We have an extraordinary team of law clerks and we are looking to add another bilingual clerk to our team.
The position requires someone who can work both independently and as part of a team. We require someone who is well organized, detail-oriented, patient, empathetic to clients and who has a cooperative approach to teamwork. Candidates should possess strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent computer skills and experience with software including Microsoft Office 365. Experience with LEAP and Primafact or other legal accounting and document management software is an asset.
The position involves higher level law clerk tasks as well as more administrative tasks with law clerks having responsibility, in conjunction with the lawyer, for all work on files. Tasks include opening files, sending out correspondence, communicating with clients, filing court documents, scheduling, requesting, reviewing, and summarizing medical records and other documents, drafting pleadings, motions and other documents, following standard protocols and carrying out other tasks as directed. Our law clerks work in cooperation with the lawyer on the file and a high level of responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the file is required.
So that we can serve our French speaking clients, this position is bilingual mandatory. Applicants must be bilingual (French and English) and possess a law clerk diploma or have equivalent experience working for several years in a law clerk capacity. Recent graduates will be considered but preference will be given to candidates with experience in personal injury litigation and/or insurance law.
We offer a competitive salary, commensurate with experience, extended health, dental and vision benefits and an opportunity to work with a collegial team.
To apply, please submit your application via email only at reception@burntucker.com. Applications should be submitted in English but we do also encourage you to submit a parallel application in French. Reference letters are appreciated. While we wish to thank all who apply, only those candidates who are selected for an interview will be contacted. No telephone inquiries please.
