It is with great pleasure that our firm presented the 9^th Annual Fundraising Dinner for the Brain injury Association of the Ottawa-Valley on November 24, 2015.  The dazzling event was very well attended by members of the healthcare community, members of the legal community and individuals living with a brain injury and their friends and families.

The Brain Injury Association of the Ottawa-Valley (BIAOV) is a non-for-profit organization that helps survivors of brain injury reconnect with their community. The BIAOV offers education, information, hope and support to the survivors, their family members, friends, caregivers and professionals.

The guest speaker of the evening, Ms. Ruth Wilcox, is the Executive Director of the Ontario Brain Injury Association. She reminded us that brain injury survivors often experience a loss of support and connection within their community.  She talked about the importance of the community in supporting these individuals and their family and friends.

The event’s honoury chair, Dr. Shawn Marshall, explained how the healthcare system is changing and how vital the presence of an association such as the BIAOV is for people living with a brain injury.

Dr. Marshall is a physiatrist who works with patients with brain injuries at the Rehabilitation Centre of the Ottawa Hospital.

The dinner and raffles raised over $35,000 in support of the BIAOV, which will fund services and activities for members throughout the year.

A special thank you to the organizers who worked relentlessly to put this wonderful event together, as well as the sponsors and attendees for their generosity and participation in this year’s event.  On behalf of the BIAOV, we thank the entire Ottawa community for their ongoing support.
