Burn Tucker Lachaîne is hiring a law clerk to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.
We are a boutique firm specializing in plaintiff personal injury and long term disability claims. We have an extraordinary team of law clerks and are looking to add another clerk to our team.
The position requires someone who can work both independently and as part of a team. We require someone who is well organized, detail-oriented, patient, empathetic to clients and who has a cooperative approach to team work. Candidates should possess strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent computer and typing skills and experience with software including Microsoft Office 365.
The position involves higher level law clerk tasks as well as more administrative tasks with clerks having responsibility, in conjunction with the lawyer, for all work on files. Tasks include opening files, completing conflict searches, sending out correspondence, communicating with clients, filing court documents, scheduling, reviewing medical records and other documents, drafting pleadings, following standard protocols and carrying out other tasks as directed.
Applicants must possess a law clerk diploma or have equivalent experience working for several years in a law clerk capacity. Bilingualism is an asset but is not required. Recent graduates will be considered but preference will be given to candidates with experience in personal injury litigation or insurance law.
We offer a competitive salary, commensurate with experience, extended health, dental and vision benefits and an opportunity to work with a collegial team.
There is flexibility currently between remote work and in-office work. All candidates should be able to commute to Ottawa or be willing to relocate to the Ottawa region for at least some in-office work, as may be required.
To apply, please submit your application via email only at reception@burntucker.com. Applications should be submitted in English but we do also encourage bilingual applicants to submit a parallel application in French. Reference letters are appreciated. While we wish to thank all who apply, only those candidates who are selected for an interview will be contacted. No telephone inquiries please.
