During the afternoon of June 22, 2015, a double decker Megabus and a tractor trailer crashed on Highway 401 near Lancaster, Ontario, close to the City of Cornwall.
A number of people suffered injuries in the crash, with some being airlifted to area hospitals with serious injuries.
A section of the westbound lanes of Highway 401 was closed Tuesday afternoon, but all lanes had reopened by Wednesday morning.
Megabus representatives said, in a statement, “Safety is our number 1 priority and Megabus is fully co-operating with the authorities with their investigation into the incident.”
However, Megabus, a U.S. based company operating routes in the United States, Ontario and Quebec, does have a history of notable accidents, including a similar crash on April 13, 2015, when a double decker bus travelling from Chicago to Atlanta was involved in a collision with a semi-truck on Interstate 65.
If you, or someone you love, has been involved in a serious crash, the lawyers at Burn Tucker Lachaîne can give you the advice you need. We have extensive experience with bus crash and transport truck crash cases.
