Priya Shah

Associate

Priya Shah was called to the Ontario Bar in 2024 and is an associate at Burn Tucker Lachaîne in Ottawa. Her practice focuses on personal injury cases and insurance-related litigation, including motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall cases, and disability insurance claims.

Known for her compassionate approach and thoughtful communication style, Priya brings empathy, strategic thinking, and a client-centered perspective to her work. She is committed to delivering exceptional service to her clients, offering clear, supportive guidance throughout the litigation process. Priya recognizes the important role legal advocates play in helping clients rebuild their lives after injury and considers it a privilege to do this work.

Priya joined Burn Tucker Lachaînein 2021, first as a law clerk and later as an articling student, before returning to the firm as an associate. Early in her practice, she co-counselled a four-week jury trial, representing an injured plaintiff. The experience of examining both lay and expert witnesses in a complex case was a formative moment in her development as a trial lawyer and deepened her passion for oral advocacy.

Priya is an active member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Carleton County Law Association, the Canadian Bar Association, the Advocacy Club, and the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA). She currently serves as Vice Chair of OTLA’s New Lawyers Division, where she supports early-career lawyers through mentorship, networking, and practical resources. She also contributes to OTLA’s blog and regularly writes case summaries for the organization. Since 2024, Priya has also served as a pro bono lawyer with Pro Bono Ontario, offering legal assistance to individuals facing barriers to justice.

Fluent in Gujarati, Priya is proud to serve a diverse community of clients. Outside of her practice, you will find Priya trying out new recipes in the kitchen, travelling, spending time with family and friends, or curled up with a good book on the couch.
