Impaired driving significantly increases the risk of accidents, especially with so many children out trick-or-treating. Even a small amount of alcohol or other substances can affect your ability to drive safely.

Obey the Rules of the Road

Always follow speed limits, especially in neighborhoods where children are crossing the streets. When driving in neighborhoods, drive slowly and be ready to stop, as kids may run into the road unexpectedly. Since trick-or-treating happens in the evening, use extra caution in low-light conditions. Keep an eye out for pedestrians at intersections and crosswalks, as children may be distracted by their costumes or candy and not pay attention to cars. Also, be particularly vigilant for kids in darker costumes who might blend into the surroundings.

It is important to be able to move freely and be vigilant of traffic and other pedestrians without any restrictions.
